A message of concern to the Community

KCCS would like to thank all the people of the Blood Tribe and other individuals and groups we have been associated with over the past 21 years. Our agreement with the Province of Alberta was signed in November 1989 and our Centre was opened in 1990. We were in the process of celebrating a 20 year Anniversary with the community until we recieved notice on February 9th, 2010 of our closure.

KCCS was advised by the Deputy Solicitor General of the Province of Alberta the closure "in no way reflects the manner in which you and your staff carried out their responsibilities". It was referred to rather a "business" decision. This notice from the Province of Alberta also includes the expiration of other Alberta First Nations Justice funding agreements effective March 31st, 2010 for Siksika, T'suu T'ina , Stoney, Yellowhead (Enoch, Alexander, Alexis, Nakota Sioux, Sunchild, O'Chiese)

This notice has been sudden, without any prior consultation from the Province. KCCS, along with the support of Tribal Leadership is in the process of developing a strategy to deal with the funding cuts. KCCS will be calling on you to assist us in mobilizing a campaign to stop this unilateral action.
