
The Economic Development offices are located on the second floor of the Kainai Industries Building in Standoff. The Blood Tribe Economic Development is organized into three main areas;
1. Business Development- The business development area of Economic Development is responsible for promoting and supporting small business for tribe members, both on and off the reserve. The following services are available;
-Training, funding and management support through various small business grant programs
-Support for existing business, including workshops, seminars, and other capacity building activities
-Referrals for funding and other resources to external agencies, including the Alberta Indian Investment Corporation, Treaty 7 Economic Development Corporation, and the Indian Business Corporation.
-The Small Business Resource Centre, located at the Economic Development offices. The resource centre has computers, a printer, resource material and internet access for individuals who are interested in starting a small business or who operate a small business.
SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS; The small business grant programs provide varying levels of financial support for Blood Tribe entrepreneurs to start-up, acquire or expand small businesses. The programs consist of the Regular Small Business grant (provides grants to tribe members who wish to start-up, expand or acquire a small business), the Elder Small Business grant (are available to members over the age of 55) and the Emergency Small Business grant (who require short term assistance with their businesses.

2. Corporate Development- The Corporate Development function of the department is concerned with the promotion of larger business ventures that take advantage of the resources of the tribe, including human, renewable and non-renewable. The Corporate Development Manager seeks out ventures and potential business partners for the tribe, and is also responsible for due diligence, research, program development and accessing external funding. 3. Moccasin Flats Plaza- Moccasin Flats Plaza was constructed in 1996 to aid in stopping the economic leakage which occurs on the reserve, and to assist the private sector by providing a location for commercial small business operations. The plaza has six bays of various sizes available for lease for small businesses. The Plaza is located immediately north of Cardston on Highway #2 and features a highly visible location combines with large traffic flows.
